How to optimize images and theme to boost Actual Speed?

Depending on your purpose and preference, you will choose to optimize theme or image separately whenever you want or optimize both the images and theme at the same time in Actual Speed.

In case you would like to optimize images and theme just at once, you could follow the step-by-step process below:

I. Start to optimize



Access Actual Speed > Click on "Let's start" button



Turn on Optimize theme and Optimize images

Select technique that you want to optimize theme

At default, all methods are ticked already.



Click on "Optimize" button

Show the Optimization progress bar at the bottom-right corner



II. Preview the result and manage optimized images and theme



Once the optimization progress done, it shows the optimization progress bar has done. In our newest design, it will trigger a popup notice the result and take a look or preview theme.

Example:



On Overview screen of Actual Speed, as the result after optimizing images and theme successfully, you will see the result below:

Image Optimization displays 2 figures Total image optimized which is the total number of the optimized images, and Total image saved which is the total file size of the compressed images through the app after the optimization progress.

Theme Optimization result will also be shown as Total file optimized which is the total number of the optimized file in your theme by the app, and Total file saved which is the total size of all optimized files in your theme by the app



On Optimization History, you could overview Time to get log, the number of file in Theme Optimization and the optimized image size in Image Optimization, and theme name.



Note:
Optimization history: load 5 latest logs sequentially from the upper to the bottom, and from the newest to the oldest log. If it's over 5 logs, it will jump to the next page.
All logs will be saved within 30 days from the beginning, logs will be cleared automatically after 30 days.

In case your theme is not published yet and you have not set up to auto publish theme in Auto Setting before, you will see a notification like this picture, it allows you to do "Preview", "Publish" or "Delete" updates/changes that you’ve optimized on your test theme.



Preview button to see if there is anything wrong or affect that you do not expect on the test theme before you decide to publish our code on your live theme.
Delete button to remove the test theme and then you could run the progress to optimize your store again.

If you want to remove the test theme:

Just click on "Dustbin icon"



Click "Remove" button



Show notice that Remove theme successfully



After the test theme is removed successfully, you won't see the notification to do action for your previous test theme.

Publish button to official apply our code on your live theme and publish optimization on your store.

It will take 2-5 minutes for publishing your theme



There will be a popup to inform the user once it’s finished.



If you find out some trouble with your theme later, don’t worry, just click on “I have trouble with theme” button



Click “Remove code” OR “Contact for help”



Click on View detail tab to see the result



Click on Theme to see the result
From there, you will see all the results in detail about the file number and the optimized size in each method that you have chosen to optimize themes.



Click on Image to see the result



From there, you also manage your optimized images easily. For more detail, please refer to this article.

Go back to the Detail menu of Actual Speed, you could click on this icon below to open Auto Setting popup to set theme/image optimization automatically.



OR this new designed button





At default, Optimize image and Optimize theme button is turn off.

Note:

The new image number will be updated every 24 hours automatically if you turn on this Optimize theme button. So the app will detect new images on your store that need to be optimized.

After the image or the theme optimization is completed, trigger Auto Optimization popup to ask if the user wants to turn on Auto Optimization

Turn on Auto Optimization in Auto Setting to keep your images and/or themes always to a minimum.

After the user successfully publishes the first theme, there will be a popup to allow user have a preview. So if you turn on Auto Optimize theme already, then you no longer have to preview the theme again next time. The theme will be auto scanned and optimized weekly once you turn on this Auto Optimize theme button

In case, if something went wrong in your live theme, no worries, please contact our CS team for help or click Remove Code Changes to remove all our codes applied into your live store.
